BENNETT CUP

Mr HC Bennett who had been Captain of East Devon in 1928, 1935 and 1945 donated this large cup to the Ladies Section. It was won by Mrs Enid Pursey three times in succession and in 1958 she was presented with it outright. To replace it Mrs Pursey presented the Pursey Cup. Mrs Pursey’s husband was a Professional golfer. After Mrs Pursey passed away her family returned the Bennett Cup to the club in 1994. It was re-introduced as a trophy for a singles scratch knockout matchplay competition
