Permanent Local Rules

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)

a. Beyond any bank, ditch, fence, hedge or on or beyond any road, forming the boundaries of the course.

b. Beyond the white posts to the right of the 1st, 6th, 7th, and 18th holes.

c. The Clubhouse and surrounds, practice putting green, car park, and Greenkeepers’ compound.

2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)

a. Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes.

b. Penalty Area, 6th Hole, Extra Relief Option. If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball is in the penalty area at the right of the 6th hole the player may take relief using one of the options under Rule 17.1d, or, as an extra relief option, the player may also take lateral relief on the opposite edge of the penalty area using as the Reference Point the estimated point on the opposite edge of the penalty area that is the same distance from the hole as the estimated point where the original ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area, but otherwise in accordance with Rule 17.1d(3), and in all cases adding one penalty stroke.

3. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS (Rule 16.1)

a. Ground under repair – Any area encircled by a white line, or otherwise defined by the Committee.

b. Roads, footpaths and tracks – All artificially surfaced roads and footpaths on the course, including those covered with stones, gravel or woodchips are immovable obstructions from which relief may be taken under Rule 16.1. All other footpaths and tracks are integral parts of the course from which the ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable.

c. All stake-and-rope fences on the course are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. Relief is not allowed to be taken under Rule 15.2 Movable Obstructions

4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN (rule 16.1)

Pop up sprinkler heads and junction boxes are immovable obstructions from which relief for interference may be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1.

In addition, if a ball lies in the general area and an immovable obstruction is on the line of play, and

  • within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
  • within two club-lengths of the ball,

the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.

Exception – There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

5. STAKED TREES (Rule 16.1)

Staked trees are no play zones. If a player’s ball lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.

6. IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF PLAY (Rule 5.7)

An immediate suspension of play will be signalled by one prolonged note of the siren. A normal suspension will be signalled by three consecutive notes of the siren. In either case, resumption of play will be signalled by two short notes of siren. See Rule 5.7b.
