HORTON TROPHY ( The Novice Cup)

The Horton Cup, also known as the Novice Cup, was presented by Mrs Samantha Horton for 36 handicappers who had never been below that handicap. However, with the change in the LGU handicapping system, and with Mrs Horton’s agreement, the committee changed the criteria to players with handicaps 29-36, and in 2019, to 29-54. The competition is a single Stableford played in conjunction with a County Stableford.

In 2023 the Trophy was repurposed to become the summer matchplay knockout for high handicappers with WHS Handicap Index 29.7-54.0
