THE WHITEHEAD CUP (VENERABLE VETS.) Presented by Mrs Margaret Whitehead in 2008 during the captaincy of Mrs Charlotte Drake. Mrs Whitehead’s husband Bernard was a very good snooker player and in 1974 he won a huge silver trophy at the Bristol Gentlemen’s Club, together with a small silver cup to keep. Mrs Whitehead commented the the small cup was a rather feminine cup for a gentlemen’s competition and her husband said that when he ‘had departed this life’ she could donate it to the Ladies Section! Incidentally both cups came from Parsons the jewellers and the owner retired to Budleigh Salterton and became a member of East Devon!
